About

Hannah Isolde Goodman is a textile and clothing designer from the East Coast of Canada, currently calling Montréal her home. Forever expressing herself through the handmade, she learned to knit as a child with her mother, and later as a teen was taught to sew by her aunts. After graduating high school she formalized this knowledge during her Bachelor’s of Fine Art in Textiles/Fashion from NSCAD University — focused on clothing design, fabric weaving and fabric dying.

Drawing inspiration from the adolescent influences of technicolour musicals and 1960s French film, woven with a contemporary at-leisure lifestyle, Hannah Isolde imagines a world where the sidewalk is centre stage and everyday c’est les vacances. Lengthy dinners on the terrace, seaside boardwalk strolls, and picnicking like it’s a sport. One part romance, one part kitsch, an everyday costume for la belle vie!

Established in 2018, Hannah Isolde is a slow fashion brand inspired by the transmission of textile practises within her own family, elevating the notion of the “handmade” and upholding the intergenerational communities it builds. With her brand, Hannah extends that connection to create narrative between the maker, the garment, and the wearer. Focused on contemporary romantic design, conscious fabric choices and quality construction Hannah Isolde promises well-made clothing designed to withstand trends and decades; pieces passed down between friends or family, heirlooms-to-be.
